There is an ongoing debate around the use of pesticides, their impact on wildlife and whether or not they are a cause of cancer, organ damage and hormone disruption in those that come into contact with them.
At Just Lawns, we only user herbicides when its the only option and every alternative option has been exhausted.
Without catalytic converters, petrol powered garden machinery is significantly more polluting than modern petrol cars. The exhaust fumes are toxic and harmful to the environment and machinery operators alike.
As far as possible, we have replaced petrol powered equipment with battery powered machinery. Where battery powered equipment isn’t up to the task we use petrol substitutes, such as Aspen Alkalite fuels.
Alkalite fuels are not classed as toxic and have 99% cleaner emissions than petrol, are free of benzene (a proven cause of cancer), Olefins and solvents and reduces the acidification of waterways.
The sounds of high-revving, 2-stoke garden maintenance equipment such as strimmers and blowers can be heard from a good distance away, is intimidating to passers-by and is distracting to people trying to concentrate. Yet there are alternatives.
At Just Lawns we use professional-grade, battery powered equipment to replace our old-fashioned petrol powered two-stroke machinery.
As well as reducing emissions, their much reduced noise level means we can start work earlier, work later and be much less disruptive – our operatives don’t even need to wear hearing protection which improves their safety as well.
In all aspects of our business, we reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible.
We are also licensed by the Environment Agency to remove green waste from site. This is an important consideration for any customer, as property owners can be fined thousands of pounds if your contractor is found to be fly-tipping or using household waste disposal sites.
When we remove waste, we take it to a local green waste recycling company that turns all of our grass cuttings and collected leaves into agricultural compost, putting all of the goodness right back into the food we eat.
